| KUALA LUMPUR, JANUARY 13, 2006
Cuzzy Advanced Convergence Laboratories, or Cuzzy for short,
believes they've got one foot in the future with their digital
TV service, XBB.TV. Their global internet TV Portal. XBB.TV
offers nearly 1,000 radio and 375 + television stations delivered
direct to our computers and digital televisions via a broadband
connection. As of September 2005, www.xbb.tv enjoys a regular
audience of close to 800 thousand people logging on from USA,
UK, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.
Cuzzy, who is based in Malaysia, has a strategic partner
in the U.S.A, who is an ISP, a partner in the UK who is an
Internet based talent agency, cum recording label and a partner
in Australia who is local search engine. It operates directly
here in Malaysia and in Singapore. To date, the traffic from
USA, UK and Australia still constitutes 70% of all traffic
in www.xbb.tv . The balance 30% is shared between Singapore
and Malaysia, with Singapore constituting 18% and from Malaysia
about 96 thousand strong audience, which represents the balance
12%. And the traffic on www.xbb.tv keeps growing and growing
primarily fuelled by one reason, it is free!
FREE??
So how does www.xbb.tv make its dough to keep things humming
and keep its shareholder happy. Well for starters, advertising
sales in the form of straight forward banner adverts and secondly,
from Corporate Sponsored Original and or Syndicated Content
. This formula is borrowed from the Free to Air TV industry.
And so far so good. In year 2004 , www.xbb.tv operations yielded
a USD 80,000.00 profit after tax.
This year in 2005, before the end of 3rd quarter 2005, www.xbb.tv
has already crossed USD 300,000.00 profit after tax , coming
from a little over a million US dollars in business (turnover).
Turnover is expected to hit about 1.2 - 1.4 million USD and
profits after tax for the year end 2005 is expected to reach
a staggering USD 350 - 400 K. All income is channelled through
Cuzzy Advanced Convergence Laboratories Sdn. Bhd which is
an MSC status company, and it www.xbb.tv operations are tax
exempted.
This year 2005, 60% of sales came from its British corporate
clients, 20% from American and Australian corporate clients
and the balance came from Malaysian and Singaporean corporate
clients. Although the figures may be considered rather small
in comparison to other software related business, the board
at Cuzzy are nevertheless very, very happy with the progress,
it proves a point that the business model that it chose to
bank on, is paying off, and therefore future funds deployed
for expansion would be a guessing game no more, but a fact
based growth strategy.
"Analogue equipment is on its way out of people's lifestyles,"
says Jeffrey Raj, CEO of XBB.TV and chief visionary of Cuzzy.
"Analogue TV and radio is evolving. They are being replaced
by digital transmission and receiving equipment in all shapes
and forms - your desktop, your lap top, your palm top , your
car PC, your kitchens' PC terminal, your bathroom PC terminals
and yes, your living room PC terminals."
